Our choir will take part in the project “AU CHOEUR DES RÉGIONS”, launched by the Alliance chorale du Québec, a major project that brings together 17 young composers and 17 choirs from different regions of Québec.

The SLCS represents the Montérégie region.
The name of the composer associated with us is: Benoît Côté!

Who is Benoît Côté?
Trained in composition, Benoît Côté holds a doctorate in music. His works have been heard in Québec and abroad, particularly in theatre and dance. Also a writer, his first book, the essay Propositions de clarté, was a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Awards in 2017. He also published the critically-acclaimed novel Récolter la tempête, as well as the novel Vernissage.

Strongly involved in the theatrical world, he has composed as well as performed on stage a large amount of original music (notably at the Espace Go, the Licorne, the Centre du Théâtre d’aujourd’hui, the Quat’sous and, soon, at the Trident).

As an educator, Benoît was a lecturer at the Université de Montréal, but above all is a cultural mediator for a host of projects involving many different groups including marginalized populations.

Unveiling of the works
The 17 new unpublished works will be sung by as many choirs chosen through a draw, and will be presented during a virtual concert broadcast on December 12, 2012, the World Choral Day!
